Next time it starts to die, shift to prime on the fuel tap, lever back 90 degress from normal operation. I'd suspect the vacuum line from the engine to the fuel tap or possibily the fuel tap. Check the line first, it is the spring wrapped one that goes over the carb and to a fitting on the engine side. If the line has deteriated replace it with the correct size automotive vacuum hose. It will resist fuel vapors and be heavy wall so as to resist kinking. Max
